Canvas Printing: Creating Portfolios with an Impact
By Joel Owens | Author Bio | Publish This Article
If you are into professional photography, you must always have a ready and up to date portfolio. If you are new in the field and you want to gather more clients fast, your portfolio must be something impressive. Aside from having the real talent behind this field, you can also try reinventing how you present your art works. Canvas printing can actually help you with this.

Yes, you are not a painter but that should not stop you from having your works printed on a canvas. The industry is open for new blood. But just think that you will be competing with a lot of new breed of photographers who will target the agencies and companies that you are also eyeing to. When the matters get to that point, it will all boil down to your portfolios.

If you haven't thought about it, here are some ways that you can do to utilize canvas printing in presenting to existing and probable clients.

1. Choose the best photos
For sure, you have your favorites when it comes to your own works. But those may not always be the best. If you have friends who have the eye for this work, you can show to them your collection. Make them choose the ones that will be included in your project.

But it is not also bad to include your most favorite if it wasn't chosen by your selected judges. Because if you have confidence on that piece, you can easily defend that to whomever you'll present your materials to. There must be something that you see that your artist friends don't in that certain material.

2. Think about the canvas
Imagine your photos already on the canvas material. Will they look god at a large size like they do on their current sizes? Are they worth it to be printed on canvas? There are some pictures that look good when they are small. But they appeal differently all of a sudden when their sizes get blown up.

3. Perfect combination
Think about the best painters who have used the canvas to contain their images. What are the ones that truly stand out or maybe you have some favorites? If you have photos of sceneries or landscapes that will be more appealing when done in large sizes, then do include those. You may also find photos of people in a closed or tight shot. Emotions will also be appealing in larger sizes as they also do in photo prints.

4. Colors
You can also experiment in this matter when you are doing your portfolio. You can include some materials that contain a lot of colors, even some that have contrasting ones. You can also use images with fewer colors, even the black and white ones.

5. Themes
If you want to be more organized, you can create themes for your portfolios. You can create a collection that contains images of people, then another one for places, one for occasions and so on.

You can do a lot with canvas printing. This can help you in creating outstanding portfolios. Use the tool to your advantage and do not be left behind.
