============================================================ Welcome ============================================================
Good evening Everyone,
Today's issue is packed with ideas, activities and information. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it all together. As always, the Fr*eebies section took much longer to complete than any of the others.
As there are now over 5,500 subscribers to Baby Talk, I will soon be reviewing the current ad rates.
Have a Happy Monday.
Until tomorrow.
Warmest regards, Chrisoulla

Exercise Tips for At-Home Moms By Rachael Hoffman
Many women have an extra challenge when dieting - Motherhood. A trip to the gym is out of the question with soccer practice and dance class to attend. But there has to be a way to fit exercise into your motherhood routine if you want to lose weight, without losing your sanity. Below you'll find some suggestions for calorie burning activities real moms can do to fit exercise into their lives.
Hit The Road
Once the school age kids have hit the bus, take a brisk walk for an hour. If you need to, bring your child along in a stroller. Pushing the stroller while taking a brisk walk will actually increase the calories burned, not to mention that your child would probably enjoy it.
Exercise Videos
When the younger kids go down for a nap, pop Barney out of the VCR and insert an aerobics or workout video. You can also try getting your kids involved. At a young age, kids are usually willing to do anything that mom finds interesting. If you have a step workout video, try setting your child up with their own step (child-sized of course) so they can do it with you.
Cut The Grass
Mowing your lawn with a non-riding mower can help you burn quite a few calories. If you normally pay a service to mow your lawn, try cutting back the frequency that they come to every other time, and pick up the extra mowing yourself. Raking your lawn is also a source of a good work out. Not only will you be exercising, but you'll have a beautiful lawn as a bonus.
Get Your Dancing Shoes
Dancing is a great way to burn some calories. Pop in your favorite CD at home and dance with your kids for an hour. A night of dancing out with your spouse or partner could be a great source of exercise as well as a much needed stress reliever.
General Housework
Moderate everyday housework can also become a part of your official exercise program. Vacuuming, mopping and many other household chores burn calories.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is that everyone, including at home mothers, can find a way to fit exercise into their daily routine. If you want to know how many calories you could be burning with some of these activities, check out this Calorie Counter Calculator to find out exactly how many calories you are burning during your normal at home routine, and how many more you could be burning by adding some of the activities above to your day.

Winter Fun for Kids By Stephania Munson-Bishop
A foot of snow on the ground? Fantastic! What a great adventure for your children! Here are some things every family should do (at least once!) to make wintertime extra-special:
Snow People: Don't make a single snowman - make a family! Dad, Mom, a child or two. Dress the snow people in hats and scarves, use the traditional carrot for the nose and charcoal briquettes for the eyes. If the weather's too cold to finish the project all at once, take a cocoa break, then return to complete the job.
Snow Angels: After a fresh, powdery snow, children enjoy lying on their backs and making 'angel wings.' Of course it's a mess when they return to the house. But jackets and trousers dry, and sometimes the mess kids make seems directly proportional to how much they enjoy an activity.
Feeding the Birds: Pinecones coated with peanut butter or bacon grease, rolled in bird seed or plain uncooked rice, then tied in trees, will keep children at the window, watching the birds enjoy their unexpected feast.
Snow Cones: Fill plastic or Styrofoam cups with fresh snow, drizzle with fruit juice, Kool-Aid, or a little pancake syrup.
Snow Pictures: Encourage the children to draw pictures and spell words in fresh snow, using twigs as drawing implements. Then 'color' with Kool-Aid.
Nature Expedition: Everyone bundles up and takes a walk through the woods, searching for animal tracks in the snow. Actually, this is a perfect time for silence (after all, you don't want to frighten the birds and animals). It's probably a parent's last ploy, too, for pumping crisp fresh air into their children, ensuring yawns at bedtime and a good night's sleep!

Weaning Tips - What to avoid in the early months
These foods are best avoided until your baby is at least six months old (longer if you have a history of allergies to a particular food/s in the family):
· Wheat-based foods which contain gluten, such as wheat flour, breakfast cereals, rusks.
· Nuts and seeds including peanut butter.
· Eggs, fish and shellfish.
· Citrus fruits and juices.
· Cow's milk as a drink until your baby is a year old, but use it for mixing foods or cooking from six months.
· Milk products such as yoghurt and cheese.
· Salt, which a small baby's system can't cope with.
· Sugar, which can encourage a sweet tooth and lead to tooth decay.
· Honey should be avoided until your baby is a year old as, although rare, it may contain spores which can cause infant botulism.
