I hope that everyone fared well during hurricane Isabel this past week. Being a Los Angeles native, I can't even fathom that kind of weather. It looks so terribly frightening and is so damaging. I pray that you and your families made it through okay.
There are two great articles in the newsletter this week, The Right Picture For Your Ultimate Online Success and,  Intentions, Hard Work and Luck. The first outlines four steps to take to maximize your web presence. The latter is featured in the Personal Development/Lifestyle article section and asks us to take a look at ourselves and how our passion and intention or lack thereof, affects our destination in business and in life.
I have been going full force in passion mode the last couple of days. I needed to have some medical tests done which required me to fast for 4 days. It was a horrible experience. The only thing that I could ingest was clear liquid and Jell-O. In addition to feeling irritated and angry, I was emotionally and physically drained for those 4 days. All I could think about was how badly I wanted to eat and how horrible I was feeling.
Once the testing was done and I could eat, I had so much energy I felt like I had been given a new life. I decided to carry that feeling/attitude with me past the first day and live as though I really had been given a new life. I'm now living in a more grateful state of mind, appreciating all that I have; food, a home, family, friends and the freedom that comes with living in America. I so much more appreciate the ability to have choices and to be able to pursue my own passions. Having to fast was one of the best things that has happened to me causing me to want to be a better me and embrace my life with vigor.
Now, I don't wish that fasting experience on any of you. Going through it was not fun at all. But I wanted to share it with you in hopes that you could benefit from my experience and choose to live fully, with passion and gratitude. Until next time...

Having the right picture as to how an internet business works is one of the most important aspects for online success, but most people jump into their online business without understanding the full picture.
This mistake often results in unnecessary expense and difficulty in pursuing misguided design and marketing strategies.
To correctly develop the right picture in your mind, you should think of your website much as a magazine on a crowded newsstand.
Just as with a magazine, you must overcome many obstacles to sell just one copy, like competition, getting visitors to look at you, and many more little problems that arise everyday. In order to overcome these obstacles, you must understand these four pieces of the picture:
1. Get visitors to take a look at you! - On the internet, traffic is not just going to appear. You must learn techniques to drive traffic to your website and then give them reasons to stay there.
Effective marketing strategies might include writing articles like this one, using pay-per-click advertising, ezine advertising, and many other helpful marketing techniques that exist.
Once your visitor arrives at your website, you must keep them there. To do this, the visitor must be able to immediately see that you have a helpful service for them. Ways of doing this are with headlines, and, most importantly, a straightforward personality.
2. Hit the right topic - People already familiar with business on the internet like to call this a "niche". This is because you must provide a topic, product, or service that you specialize in and which an audience is searching for and desires.
3. Create a loyal following - Getting traffic to your website is just one small part of the picture, but being in business is not just about getting a few sales, it is about building relationships that will result in a lifetime of sales.
To create a loyal following, you can be helpful, interact with your customers with a message board or an e-zine (electronic magazine), or just create a product or service that your customers rely upon because it satisfies their problems and desires.
4. Differentiate yourself from your competition - Almost every magazine has three or four competitors on the same topic all around it. So, you must ask yourself, "Why would anybody go with my website over my competition's?"
Answering this question is simple if you follow the rule of "Doing what your competition does, except a whole lot better" so that your customer would be crazy not to order your package over your competitors."
With these four pieces of the puzzle optimized and at their full capacity, you will have completed your picture of ultimate success. So, the only thing that is holding you back now is ACTION!

The Law of Polarity states that everything has an opposite. It's a law. You can't fall 6 feet down from being only 4 feet up. You can't turn left without coming from the right. "Yes" only exists because "No" does too; otherwise it would be meaningless. By law, if something bad happens, then it is simultaneously good. If something is a little bit bad, then it is only a little bit good. If something is catastrophic, then there is, within it, something phenomenally awesome! Everything has an opposite. My son often says, "The harder I work, the luckier I get." Since that phrase popped into my head early this morning, I took it as my inspiration for the week and got to thinking about luck.
What is luck? Is it good fortune that comes out of the blue, totally unexpected? Or is it the Universe sending what we've signaled we desire? I think the latter. My son's phrase doesn't mean that just working intensely brings good fortune. It means that working intently, with passion, toward desired end results will bring those results to us.
The key word is passion. It is the depth of our emotion about our desires, and our ability to visualize the result, that sends the strongest signal to the Universe--the signal most likely to trigger the events some would call luck. But how do you create the passion? Passion comes naturally and effortlessly when your intentions align with and complement who you really are.
For example, if you are a creative, imaginative, and spontaneous person, it is not likely that you will generate passion around a job which is detail oriented and routine. If you happen to be in this job, and hold a goal of excelling at that job, you will likely find that luck avoids you no matter how hard you work. Oh, you may do OK at this work, but it is unlikely that you will see what some would call good luck in the job. In fact, bad luck may seem to follow you, sabotaging your career at every turn. You see, the Universe knows who you are at your core, and sends you what is right for you, even if it seems to oppose what you think you desire.
So it is extremely important that you understand yourself-- the real you. Not the you constructed by others based on their views of success, but the you at your core-the you that calls in your dreams. You know who that is, even while you try to hide from it. You have glimpses of who you really are--and these glimpses thrill you. Perhaps your mind is used to taking over at this point, frightening you with all the reasons you can't be that person your soul is calling for. If that's where your thoughts take you--to a paralyzing fear--think again. Think another thought!
If your favorite saying is, "If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all," spend some time in quiet meditation reflecting on who you really are. Consider where your passions lie. Recall your periods of great excitement, energy, and joy. During those times you are being who you really are. Wouldn't it be wonderful to live every day that way? And wouldn't it be great to have luck on your side? It can be. ---------- About the author
